Proper Care of your Putters and Wedges:

Carbon Steel material is susceptible to oxidization if left damp. To help preserve the finish of your putter or wedge we suggest that you follow these simple steps:
  • After use, wipe your putter/wedge with a silicone cloth. If you don’t have a silicone cloth you can simply apply baby oil to a clean dry cloth and wipe it down.
  • If playing in an overly fertilized course it is recommended to wipe down your putter after each hole. And of course at the end of the round use the silicone cloth.
  • It is also recommended to never leave your putter/wedge in damp conditions.
Following these easy steps will help preserve and maintain your investment.

What type of finish does BOS do?
  • We refinish Putters and Wedges that are Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel
  • Processing Time: Approximately 3 weeks (dependent on order size)
  • BOS refinishes Putters, Wedges and Irons. We provide the finishes listed along with custom paint fill. We prefer that you remove the shaft when sending in an order otherwise, there will be an additional charge to remove and re-install the shaft.

Finishes available:

Black Oxide Finish, III Black Finish, Patina Oil Can Finish, III Patina Oil Can Finish

As far as the durability on all our finishes, they are all equally the same and in time they will wear. Many factors are involved such as how well you play, do you take a large divots or small divots, if the course is heavily fertilized, and if the person wipes down the clubs after use and applies oil on the putters/wedges/irons. The heads are susceptible to rusting and should never be left damp.

Please check out our website on "How to properly Care for your Putters". You can find helpful tips in the golf section of our web page. Following those simple tips will help prolong the finishes.

The main thing to realize with our finishes is that there is maintenance involved. By going to one of our finishes the advantage is that the club will feel softer and that will allow you to play with a harder ball if you want to and still keep the original feel. Allows for better control around the greens. Mainly through the increased feel.

So if proper care is taken, they can last up to a season.
